Ingredients
  

  • 4 large russet potatoes
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter melted
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese optional

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F. Grease a skillet with butter.
  • Peel potatoes and slice them thin. Use a mandoline.
  • Put slices in a bowl. Add butter and seasonings.
  • Mix well so every slice is coated.
  • Arrange slices in the skillet, overlapping slightly.
  • Press gently to create an uniform layer.
  • Cook on the stove over medium heat for 10 minutes.
  • Move the skillet to the oven. Bake for 40 minutes.
  • Take the pan out and allow it to cool for five minutes.
  • Flip onto a plate. Slice and serve warm.

Notes

  1. Use a mandoline for even slices.
  2. Press the layers down for a firm texture.
  3. Butter the skillet well to stop sticking.
  4. Add cheese for extra taste.
  5. Let it rest before flipping to keep its shape.
