Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup soft butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ cup buttermilk
  • 1 pound chopped orange slice candy
  • 1 ½ cups chopped pecans
  • 1 ½ cups sweet coconut
  • 1 pound chopped dates
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Instructions
 

Step 1:

  • Heat oven to 250°F. Grease and flour your Bundt pan.

Step 2:

  • Mix butter and sugar until soft and creamy.

Step 3:

  • Add eggs one by one. Mix after each egg.

Step 4:

  • In a bowl, mix baking soda and buttermilk.

Step 5:

  • Add the buttermilk mix into the butter mix.

Step 6:

  • Add flour slowly. Mix gently at low speed.

Step 7:

  • In another bowl, cover candy with a little flour.

Step 8:

  • Add chopped dates, pecans, and coconut to the candy.

Step 9:

  • Now add all that to your cake batter.

Step 10:

  • Pour batter into the pan. Spread it out smoothly.

Step 11:

  • Bake 2.5 to 3 hours. Check with a toothpick.

Step 12:

  • Keep the cake in the pan and let it cool for 15 minutes.

Step 13:

  • Take the cake out of the pan. Let it cool fully.

Step 14:

  • Wrap the cake well. Let it sit overnight.

Notes

  • Use a greased knife to cut the candy.
  • Mix chopped candy with flour to stop sticking.
  • Don’t mix too much after adding fruit.
  • Let the cake cool before you wrap it.
  • Let the cake rest overnight. It tastes better!
